ASM PRESS WEB-BASED RIGHTSLINK SYSTEM FOR PERMISSIONS REQUESTS LAUNCHED JUNE 22, 2010

ASM Press is pleased to announce the launch of our partnership with Rightslink, a web-based system developed by Copyright Clearance Center for obtaining permissions to reuse content from online publications.  The Rightslink system will result in faster turnaround times for your permission requests.

Rightslink access is through the ASM Press online eStore, http://estore.asm.org/. If you wish to request permission to reuse content from a specific ASM Press title, please find the title in the eStore.  If the title in question is either a) not the current edition of the title or b) out of print, it will not be on the eStore.  If you have an older edition, the content in question may be in the current edition as well.  Please use the content from the most current edition.  If the content in question is not in the current edition, or the title is out of print, please contact ASM Press at bookspermissions@asmusa.org. Go to the page with the full description of the title. Click on the “Rightslink Permissions” link at the top of the page under the “Book ISBN/Item Number”. Once you are on the title’s Rightslink page, please follow these steps:

• Create a Rightslink account (a two-step process) if you have not already done so.  If you have a Rightslink account, please log in.

• Select the way you would like to reuse the content to obtain a price calculation.

Please note that you will need to choose “ASM Author” as your “Requestor Type” if a) you are either the lead author/editor of the publication, or the contributing author of the specific chapter content in question, or b) you are requesting permission to reuse ASM Press content in an ASM Journal.

• Accept the terms and conditions and make the appropriate payment using a credit card.

• You will receive email confirmation that permission was granted.

For questions about ASM Press content or types of use not specified within Rightslink, please contact Lindsay Williams at bookspermissions@asmusa.org.
